ORIGIN – TERROIR
Château Pontet Barrail covers 17 hectares of land composed of clay-limestone and sandy-gravelly soils.
The vines have an average ge of 38 years and thrive in this terroir which allows them to reach their full potential. The family’s work in the Chateau’s vineyards has been rewarded with ”Cru Bourgeois” status which is a reference point in the Médoc region.
VINIFICATION
Traditional stainless steel vats at controlled temperature
GRAPES VARIETIES
Cabernet sauvignon 60%, Merlot 30%, Petit Verdot 6%, Cabernet franc 4%
TASTING
Garnet colour. Toasty notes, spice, figs and black fruit on the nose. A round and distinctive palate complemented by a silky texture, complex tannins and aromas of black fruit. The whole is refined and elegant with a long and aromatic finish.
SERVICE SUGGESTIONS
Enjoy served alongside Marengo veal, an entrecôte steak in red wine sauce, fillet of beef ‘rossini’ and a mature cantal cheese to finish.
