Origine – terroir
Château La Picherie is a tiny estate of 5 hectares owned by Rodolphe Guimberteau. Its 30 years old vineyard is ideally planted on clay and limestone soils at Montagne, near the medieval city of Saint-Émilion.
Vinification
Leaf-stripping and green harvesting in August.
Vinification in thermo-regulated stainless steel vats:
Cold maceration at 10° C for 2-3 days
Punching of the cap twice a day
Long vatting of 35 days
Fermentation between 25 and 28° C.
Aging in French oak barrels for 12 months.
Grapes varieties
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Tasting notes
Château La Picherie presents a deep garnet color.
The nose is warm, powerful and reveals ripe red fruit notes.
Great complexity on the palate with a strong tannic structure. A wine full of promises.
Food & wine pairing
Château La Picherie will be perfect with a rack of lamb, a grilled entrecote, a river fish in sauce or chocolate based desserts.
Servir entre 16° et 18°C.
